These eight principles have guided me
through decades of coaching and life experiences.

Truths that apply to every area of life

Embrace them, live by them, and you’ll find yourself on a path to achieving more than you ever thought possible.

1.  DON’T BE AFRAID TO TRY SOMETHING NEW.

Throughout my journey as a coach, one of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is the importance of stepping outside your comfort zone. Fear of the unknown can be paralyzing, but it’s in those moments of uncertainty that we often find our greatest opportunities for growth. Whether it’s trying a new strategy on the field or pursuing a different career path, embracing new challenges has consistently led to some of the most rewarding experiences in my life. Remember, innovation and progress are born from the willingness to explore the unfamiliar. Don’t be afraid to take that first step; it could lead you to places you never imagined.

2.  DON’T FEAR FAILURE. IT IS PART OF THE PROCESS.

Failure is often seen as a setback, but in reality, it’s a vital part of the journey to success. Every failure is a lesson, a stepping stone that teaches us what doesn’t work and brings us closer to what does. In my coaching career, there were times when things didn’t go as planned, but those experiences shaped me into a better coach and leader. Instead of fearing failure, I’ve learned to embrace it, understanding that it’s not the end but rather a necessary chapter in the story of success. The key is to keep moving forward, learning, and improving with each stumble along the way.

3.  DON’T BURN BRIDGES. BUILD RELATIONSHIPS.

In any profession, but especially in coaching, relationships are everything. The people you meet along the way—the players, colleagues, and mentors—become an integral part of your journey. Maintaining these connections is crucial because you never know when paths will cross again or when you might need to lean on those relationships for support or guidance. I’ve seen firsthand how burning bridges can limit opportunities, while fostering positive, respectful relationships can open doors you never even knew existed. Always strive to leave every interaction on good terms; it’s an investment in your future.

4.  FAITH.

Faith is a powerful force, whether it’s faith in yourself, in others, or in something greater. It provides the strength to keep going when the path ahead isn’t clear. Throughout my life, faith has been a cornerstone, giving me the courage to face challenges and the resilience to bounce back from setbacks. It’s about believing that, no matter how tough things get, there’s a purpose and a plan for everything. Trust in that process, and you’ll find the strength to persevere.
